Summary

Listening Length 11 hours and 1 minute

In the thin glow of moonlight, a mess of auburn curls gleams against the rocks。 A girl’s pale hand reaches from a cleft in the boulders, waving weakly。 But it’s too late。 A wall of raging white water crashes down, swallowing her whole…

A knock on the door late in the evening can only mean trouble for Detective Josie Quinn, but fear chokes her at the news that one of her own team is missing。 No one has seen Denton PD’s Press Liaison Amber for days and, as she follows the message scrawled on the frosted windscreen of Amber’s car to a nearby dam, Josie hears a piercing scream that tells her she’s too late。 But the body they pull from the freezing water is not Amber…

Josie won’t sleep until she finds a name for the beautiful girl left to drown, and the meaning of the numbers scribbled in a tattered pink diary found on Amber’s desk。 She must stay strong and focused for her close-knit team。 But as rumors of an argument the night Amber disappeared surface, can she even trust her own colleagues?

Cracking the cryptic numbers reveals a twisted truth about Amber’s family – did anyone really know Amber at all? Finding her alive is Josie’s only chance of knowing the truth。 But as a blizzard closes in, how many more precious lives will be snatched before she can?

Do you absolutely love crime thrillers that keep you up all night and leave you sleeping with the lights on? Then this gripping rollercoaster ride, perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine, will have you TOTALLY HOOKED!

Another winner!!What can I say other than I loved it? Great story, always great characters - and this time we got to know a little more about Mett and Amber。 I’m glad Josie and Sawyer are growing closer。 Can’t wait to see what’s next for Josie, Noah and the rest of the gang。 Keep them coming Lisa!!

I think this was one of Lisa Regan’s best books, and Josie Quinn never fails to deliver。 The Drowning Girls had so many good twists involving one of their own it kept you turning the pages right until the end。 Definitely Lucky 13。

Josie had a very disturbing past and she cannot stop worrying about what Amber could be going through。 Josie has very few clues to work with but she pushes through with relentless determination。 When anther murder happens it is clear that there is a connection to whatever is going on。 The scene of the first murder soon leads to events of a dozen years ago。 Was Amber keeping secrets from all of them? Is Mettner lying to Josie and her team as they seek answers? I have truly loved this series and while this thrilling book could be read as a standalone I must say that getting to know Josie was pivotal when it comes to understanding her drive when it comes to solving even the most heinous crimes。 Her past, her marriage, her relationship to her team - it all comes together when it comes to understanding Josie and her passionate work ethic。 And the fact that it is a cherished team member pushes Josie even harder。 Lisa Regan definitely hit it out of the park with this 13th book in this stellar series。 Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review。 This is my honest opinion。 。。。more

This was a thrilling addition to the series! Josie Quinn is one of my all-time favourite detectives and I cannot wait for her next story! 。。。more

Lisa Regan is a master of the tautly drawn crime thriller, and this, the thirteenth in the series, is no exception。 This book grabbed me from the get-go and it was pedal to the metal all the way through。 As long as Ms。 Regan keeps writing, I will keep reading。 Good stuff right here。Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the review copy。Full review on my blog: https://theplainspokenpen。com/blog-to。。。 Lisa Regan is a master of the tautly drawn crime thriller, and this, the thirteenth in the series, is no exception。 This book grabbed me from the get-go and it was pedal to the metal all the way through。 As long as Ms。 Regan keeps writing, I will keep reading。 Good stuff right here。Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the review copy。Full review on my blog: https://theplainspokenpen。com/blog-to。。。 。。。more

I love this series。 I always feel like I am catching up with the team as I read the new installment in the series。 This latest read was filled with twists and turns and more than one red herring that I fell for。 I really like that with all Josie has been through and now being married to Noah, she is still flawed and trying to improve。 I’ve grown to like the entire team and was rooting that they find Amber alive and that Mettner was not somehow involved。 I didn’t want to put this one down。 It’s f I love this series。 I always feel like I am catching up with the team as I read the new installment in the series。 This latest read was filled with twists and turns and more than one red herring that I fell for。 I really like that with all Josie has been through and now being married to Noah, she is still flawed and trying to improve。 I’ve grown to like the entire team and was rooting that they find Amber alive and that Mettner was not somehow involved。 I didn’t want to put this one down。 It’s fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat。 If you like police procedurals and you haven’t read these books, do yourself a favor and read them from the beginning。 Any one of the books could be read as a stand alone, but I think you’ll appreciate them so much more as a whole。 。。。more

Triskaidekaphobia After 12 captivating detective thrillers, No。 13 in the Josie Quinn saga falls flat。 Inexplicably, Ms。 Regan chooses to spin the story around two of her least compelling cast members — PR flack Amber Watts and Detective Finn Mettner — without doing much to develop their characters or endear them to her readers。 Josie’s myriad relations, half-relations, friends and allies add little but a smattering of vanilla window dressing to a convoluted and largely implausible plot line。It Triskaidekaphobia After 12 captivating detective thrillers, No。 13 in the Josie Quinn saga falls flat。 Inexplicably, Ms。 Regan chooses to spin the story around two of her least compelling cast members — PR flack Amber Watts and Detective Finn Mettner — without doing much to develop their characters or endear them to her readers。 Josie’s myriad relations, half-relations, friends and allies add little but a smattering of vanilla window dressing to a convoluted and largely implausible plot line。It may be time to retire the indefatigable Josie Quinn, though I venture to guess her many loyal fans (myself included) will take the plunge for a 14th installment and perhaps beyond。 For all its faults, “The Drowning Girls” is a decent read。 Sadly, however, it doesn’t rise to the oft-promised, oft-delivered standard of “unputdownable and addictive。” 。。。more

The comments and review of this book are my opinion。 Author Lisa Regan once again writes a story that just as sure you have it figured out, she throws in another twist。 Detective Josie Quinn and her team have a missing team member and one of their own is considered a person of interest。 A great plot, strong characters and enough twists to make it hard to wait for the author to write her next book in this series。 I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture。
